This event has passed.

This year Earth Day is focused on ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, inviting everyone around the globe to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.

With around 80% of global trade carried by sea and 30–50% of CO2 absorbed by the ocean, the urgency to conduct maritime activity in a clean and sustainable manner is clear. We will be joined by Sarah Fear and Dr Stavros Karamperidis who will discuss the current research underway in Clean Maritime, including the VBEV project which Sarah recently presented at the Maritime Battery conference in Sweden.

In conjunction with the Staff Sustainability Network’s spring campaign focused around Water, we will also be joined by Dr Rupert Goddard, currently working on Resilient Catchment Communities and Dr Eva Perrin, working on BactiQuick.

Join us this Earth Day for a lunchtime of talks focused on research underway in waterways, rivers and harbours near you.

Refreshments will be provided, please feel free to bring your lunch along.
